Public Speaker Programs — Free for Students
All students receive complimentary admission to AKWorld public programs throughout the year, providing opportunities to hear directly from world-renowned speakers, ask questions, and connect with community leaders. AKWorld programs provide a great opportunity for students to meet and network with notable people of all fields within the Anchorage community.
Students may register via the “Free Admission” ticket option available on each program page.
Academic WorldQuest
Academic WorldQuest, the World Affairs Councils of America’s flagship youth education program, is a fun, fast-paced team competition for high school students. The winning team gets the chance to travel to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national WorldQuest competition each spring.

Scholarship Opportunities
Each year, now for nearly four decades, the World Affairs Council of America (WACA) holds a National Conference that brings together Council leaders, members, diplomats, journalists, educators, business executives, students, and foreign policy experts to explore the global issues and policy choices that impact our lives.
Thanks to the generous support of the Malú and Carlos Alvarez Family, the WACA Student Scholars Program provides 25 outstanding undergraduate students with the opportunity to attend the conference each year. Student Scholars receive complimentary conference registration and a $1,250 stipend to help offset the cost of travel and lodging. The 2026 WACA National Conference will take place November 18–20, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
