Women are commonplace within the American workforce. While these women work, their children are in local schools being educated to be future leaders. Within the country of Pakistan, the scene is very different. Within Pakistan, over 13 million girls are not in school and the country is ranked as one of the lowest countries in regards to women within the workforce according to the Marshall Direct Fund.
Jodi Fischer, Marshall Direct Fund Executive Director will be presenting a program on “Education and Economic Opportunities for Women: Solutions to Poverty and Conflict in Pakistan
” on Friday, March 25th, from 12pm-1pm at the Anchorage Hilton. Jodi has over 15 years of experience in international development and has worked with a variety of nonprofits, foundations, government contractors, and both the public and private education sectors. She is currently working on publishing a book about her experiences about providing education and economic opportunities to vulnerable populations in Pakistan.
The Marshall Direct Fund provides programs for women and children to educate, promote peace, and empower Pakistani women and children. With primary school scholarships that provide free schooling to youth living in poverty, pen pals via Global Kid Connect, and programs that are providing women with vocational training, the MDF is aimed at making a positive difference in Pakistan.
Attend the luncheon, learn about, and support the up and coming generation of girls and women who are striving to make the world a better place, one education at a time.
“Education and Economic Opportunities for Women: Solutions to Poverty and Conflict in Pakistan” is happening on Friday, March 25th at the Anchorage Hilton Hotel. Doors open at 11:30am for lunch and the lecture begins at noon.
