Speaker Bio:
Farah Killidar was born in Iraq, which she left at the age of ten, moved to the United Arab Emirates and later pursued her education in the UK. She is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales, with experience in the Middle East, the UK and the US. Farah has worked for international law firms where she was involved in a wide range of corporate and commercial work, including multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions, advising on major international litigations, advising on regulatory projects and legal reforms in emerging markets. Farah has extensive experience in dealing with government institutions in the Middle East and the US, having advised governments on a number of infrastructure projects, disputes and legal reform. At the outset of the Gulf War, Farah was a founder member of Clifford Chance’s multi-disciplined Iraq Reconstruction Group.

Being of Iraqi origin, Farah has significant personal and professional interest in Iraq’s legal and political development. She has made presentations in the Middle East, the UK and the US on Iraq’s legal system and the foreign investment climate; published articles on the subject; was invited as guest-lecturer at educational institutes; advised corporate and government clients on foreign investment in Iraq and ongoing changes to the legal and political system. When residing in Alaska, Farah acted as the executive director of the Alaska World Affairs Council and, more recently, as an independent legal consultant advising the US Department of Commerce on Iraq’s commercial law development. Farah is currently the CEO of the World Affairs Council in Houston.
