Ronald Reagan’s presidency concurred with some of the most remarkable moments in modern history, from the end of the Iran hostage crisis to the Reykjavik summit with Mikhail Gorbachev. As a member of the National Security Council and White House staff, Frank Lavin participated in many of these events, which he captures in his new book “Inside the Reagan White House: A Front-Row Seat to Presidential Leadership with Lessons for Today.” Join us as he shares his insider perspective on the Reagan assassination attempt, Ollie North and the Contras, the 1998 Bush-Dukakis contest, and more – and attempts to answer the question that lingers after 40 years: Is the approach to foreign policy that allowed the U.S. to prevail in the Cold War still relevant today?
