ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Mr. Grigorios Tassiopoulos, the Consul General of Greece in San Francisco, is a career diplomat with over two decades experience in international relations. A graduate of both Aristotle University of Thessalonika and the London School of Economics, Mr. Tassiopoulos began his path into diplomacy in 2001 when he was admitted to the Diplomatic Academy within the Hellenic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His postings encompassed senior positions at the Embassies of Greece in Tehran, Havana, Jakarta, and Beijing. From 2015-2018, Mr. Tassiopoulos was Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou, China, the capital and largest city of Guangdong Province. Mr. Tassiopoulos served as Consul General of Greece in Mariupol, Ukraine, from 2019 until March 2021. In August, 2024, Mr. Tassiopoulos took up the posting of Consul General of Greece in San Francisco, with jurisdiction including Alaska, part of California, Idaho, Montana, North Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
