DESCRIPTION:Academic WorldQuest is a team competition testing students’ k
 nowledge of global issues in the following categories:\n\n 	Current Events
 \n 	NAFTA\n 	ASEAN at 50\n 	India's Bid for Global Power\n 	Combatting Cli
 mate Change\n 	Cybersecurity\n 	Saudi Arabia\n 	Great Decisions\n 	The Pea
 cebuilding Toolkit\n 	America's Diplomats\n\nThe Alaska competition on Thu
 rsday\, February 8th will bring together 156 high school students to test 
 their knowledge of global affairs. Participating schools include:\n\n 	Ala
 ska Middle College School / Dimond High School\n 	Bartlett High School\n 	
 Chugiak High School\n 	Colony High School\n 	Eagle River High School\n 	Jo
 e Redington Senior High School\n 	MatSu Technical High School\n 	Palmer Hi
 gh School\n 	Service High School\n 	South Anchorage High School\n 	Wasilla
  High School\n 	West Anchorage High School\n\nOver 40 local World Affairs 
 Councils host the competition across the country. The winning team from ea
 ch local competition is invited to participate in the National Competition
  hosted in Washington\, D.C. each April.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is WorldQuest?\nO
 ne of the greatest challenges facing our nation and our schools across the
  country is preparing our youth for the globally interconnected world of t
 he 21st century. America’s ability to face the economic and security cha
 llenges of the 21st century and seize new opportunities is dependent on an
  educated and informed citizenry and workforce. Academic WorldQuest is a u
 nique opportunity to expose our youth to the world outside our borders and
  prepare them for these challenges and opportunities.\n\n\n\n2018 WorldQue
 st Recap\n\n36 teams representing 13 hight schools competed on February 8t
 h at the Dena'ina Center.\n\n\nFirst place: West High School\, Team 1\n\nS
 econd place: Service High School\, Team 1\n\nThird place: Matsu Technical\
 , Team 1\n\nThe students on West High School's winning team were\; Henry M
 ildon\, William Lee\, Samuel Hiratsuka\, and Corin Katzke. They were coach
