DESCRIPTION:\n\nJoin Alaska World Affairs Council for an in-depth discussi
 on from Brigadier General on the US-Canadian military alliance\, as well a
 s military operations in Alaska. The program will begin 5 minutes early fo
 r Alaska World Affairs Council Year in Review presented by Lise Falskow.\n
 \nBGen Scott Clancy was born and raised in Ottawa Ontario where his parent
 s still reside. He joined the Air Cadets when he was young in order to fol
 low his dream of flying\, becoming a glider and private pilot.\n\nBGen Cla
 ncy joined the military in 1984 and attended the Royal Military College St
  Jean (RMC) Saint-Jean\, graduating in 1989. He received his wings after c
 ompleting the basic helicopter course in December 1990.\n\nHe has served i
 n 427\, 430 and 403 tactical helicopter squadrons. He has held staff appoi
 ntments as a contingency planner in the 1st Canadian Air Division/Canadian
  NORAD Region HQ Winnipeg\, Directing Staff at the Army Staff College at F
 ort Frontenac\, and then as the Wing Operations Officer and finally Chief 
 of Staff for 1 Wing Headquarters.\n\nIn 2008\, BGen Clancy was charged wit
 h planning the deployment and sustainment of helicopter forces to Afghanis
 tan\, including the interim Chinook capability\, for which he was awarded 
 the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM). In 2010 he was deployed to Haiti\, in
  command of the Air Component there as part of the Canadian Forces respons
 e to the earthquake of 12 January 2010. His actions there earned him a sec
 ond MSM.\n\nIn 2011\, BGen Clancy took over as the Deputy Chief of the NOR
 AD/USNORTHCOM Current-Operations Center (N2C2) in Colorado Springs. Over t
 he next three years he was intimately involved in numerous homeland defenc
 e\, and civil support operations including the response to Hurricane Sandy
  and wildland firefighting. In July 2014\, BGen Clancy assumed command of 
 1 Wing Kingston. As 1 Wing Commander he was responsible for providing the 
 CAF with integrated tactical aviation airpower effects. In 2016\, he was a
 ppointed as Director General Air Readiness at NDHQ in Ottawa. Following hi
 s tour in Ottawa\, BGen Clancy was posted to Joint Base Elmendorf Richards
 on\, Alaska in the summer of 2018 and appointed to his current position as
  Deputy Commander\, Alaskan NORAD Region.\n\nBGen Clancy is bilingual and 
 holds a Bachelor’s degree in Military and Strategic Studies from the Col
 lège Militaire Royal in Saint-Jean and a Master’s in Defence Studies fr
 om RMC in Kingston. He is a graduate of the Canadian Land Forces Command a
 nd Staff College\, the Canadian Forces College and the USAF Air War Colleg
 e\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nProgram Details\n\n 	Check-in will begin at 11:30am wi
 th seating available on a first-come first-serve basis. The program will b
 egin at noon.\n 	Those with online reservations do not need to present tic
 ket confirmation at the door\, we will have all confirmed attendees on a l
 ist at check-in.\n 	Lunch at this program will be available for individual
  order and purchase from 49th State Brewing Co. If you wish to do so\, pla
 n on arriving early to ensure you receive your meal by the end of the prog
 ram.\n 	Online registration will close at midnight on May 9nd. Remaining t
 ickets will be available for purchase the day of the program at the door f
 rom 11:30am.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nComplimentary parking is available in nearb
 y EasyPark Alaska lots for individuals who preregister online by midnight 
 on the day before to attend this program. Successful registrants will rec
 eive an email the day before to the program with parking details.\n\n&nbsp
 \;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nHigh school and full-time college students who register i
 n advance receive complimentary admission and a voucher for a lunch item o
 f their choosing thanks to the generous support of BP.
