SUMMARY:Inuit: The Arctic We Want | Dr. Dalee Dorough
DESCRIPTION:\n\nDr. Dalee Sambo Dorough (Inuit-Alaska) is the newly elected
  International Chair of the Inuit Circumpolar Council\, a non-governmental
  organization that represents approximately 165\,000 Inuit from the Russia
 n Far East\, Alaska\, Canada and Greenland. She holds a Ph.D. from Univers
 ity of British Columbia\, Faculty of Law (2002) and a Master of Arts in La
 w &amp\; Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University (1991). Sh
 e is affiliated with the University of Alaska Anchorage where she served a
 s an Assistant Professor of International Relations within the Department 
 of Political Science from 2008-2018\; former Chairperson [2014] and Expert
  Member of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (2010-2016)\; and c
 o-Chair of the International Law Association (ILA) Committee on Implementa
 tion of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.\nResearch interests relate to In
 digenous peoples and Arctic issues. Her recent publications include “The
  Rights\, Interests and Role of the Arctic Council Permanent Participants
 ” R. Beckman\, T. Henriksen\, K. Kraabel\, E.J. Molenaar and J.A. Roach 
 (eds) Governance of Arctic Shipping. Balancing Rights and Interests of Ar
 ctic States and User States (Brill: 2017)\; and “Indigenous Peoples’ 
 Right to Cultural Heritage”\, co-authored with Siegfried Wiessner\, Univ
 ersity of Miami School of Law\, chapter on Oxford Handbook on Cultural Her
 itage Law\, A. Vrdoljak\, ed\, forthcoming. Dr. Dorough lives in Anchorage
 \, AK with her husband\, Luke Dorough (Waccamaw Siouan) and their 23-year 
 old daughter\, Hannah\, who is embarking upon a Master’s degree in the U
 K.\n\n\n\nProgram Details\n\n 	Check-in will begin at 11:30am with seating
  available on a first-come first-serve basis. The program will begin at no
 on.\n 	Those with online reservations do not need to present ticket confir
 mation at the door\, we will have all confirmed attendees on a list at che
 ck-in.\n 	Lunch at this program will be available for individual order and
  purchase from 49th State Brewing Co. If you wish to do so\, plan on arriv
 ing early to ensure you receive your meal by the end of the program.\n 	On
 line registration will close at midnight on May 2nd. Remaining tickets wil
 l be available for purchase the day of the program at the door from 11:30a
 m.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nComplimentary parking is available in nearby EasyPark
  Alaska lots for individuals who preregister online by midnight on the day
  before to attend this program. Successful registrants will receive an em
 ail the day before to the program with parking details.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbs
 p\;\n\nHigh school and full-time college students who register in advance 
 receive complimentary admission and a voucher for a lunch item of their ch
