 ral Tammy Sandhu as she shares insights on empowering women through foreig

  and inclusivity on the global stage.\nFeatured speaker:\nTammy Sandhu is 
 His Majesty’s Consul General in San Francisco. Prior to this appointment
  she served as Deputy Consul General\, co-leading UK-US relations across t
 he Pacific North West: Northern California\, Washington\, Oregon\, Idaho\,
  Wyoming\, Montana and Alaska. The Consulate-General covers a broad range 
 of political and policy work including on climate\, trade and tech\, as we
 ll as providing support to British nationals and companies.\n\nTammy has p
 reviously had diplomatic postings to Morocco\, Brussels and India\, and ha
 s served in Iraq and Kenya. She has worked across political and economic a
 ffairs\, bilateral trade and investment\, as a Government spokesperson\, a
 nd on the Government response to crises\, specifically dealing with high p
 rofile kidnaps of British nationals overseas.\n\nIn addition to these post
 ings\, Tammy has worked in International HR. She was the Head of Secondmen
 ts and then the Head of International HR Strategy and EU Exit for the Fore
 ign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Tammy also worked on the FCO’s COVID-
 19 response.\n\nIn 2020\, Tammy was elected Chair of the FCO’s Black\, A
 sian and Minority Ethnic Committee and later served as co-Chair of the mer
 ged Foreign\, Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) Race and Ethn
 icity Network. Tammy continues to work on racial equity both within the FC
 DO and through her work in San Francisco. Her service to Diversity and Inc
 lusion was recognised in 2021 when she was awarded the Member of the Order
  of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.\n\nTammy w
 as born in Leicester\, United Kingdom. She joined the FCO in 2005 after co
 mpleting a BA Hons in English Literature at the University of Warwick and 
 an MSc in International Public Policy at University College London. She is
  married with one daughter.\nSpecial Guest:\nDr. Diddy Hitchins was born i
 n Glasgow\, Scotland\, and brought up in southern England. She received he
 r BSc in Social Sciences from the University of Southampton\, UK\; her MA 
 in Political Behaviour\, and her PhD in Government from the University of 
 Essex\, UK. Her first academic appointment\, while completing PhD research
 \, was at University of Ghana\, Legon\, West Africa. Subsequently\, Dr. Hi
 tchins had a 30 year career with Department of Political Science\, Univers
 ity of Alaska Anchorage\, rising from Assistant Professor to Associate and
  then Full Professor.\n\nDr. Hitchins specializes in Comparative Politics 
 and International Relations. She has served several terms as Chair of  th
 e Political Science Department\, and also Director of International Studie
 s at UAA\, and was the founding director of UAA’s Canadian and North Pac
 ific Studies Programs. Dr. Hitchins has conducted research in China\, Japa
 n and the Koreas as well as in Canada\, the Russian Far East and the Arcti
 c. Since 1985\, Dr. Hitchins has served as the British Honorary Consul for
  Alaska. She was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II with the Member of British
  Empire (MBE) award in 2005\, and was inducted into the Alaska Women’s H
 all of Fame 2013.\n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS\n\n 	Check-in will begin at 4:30P
