OnlyDr. Wang, a mother of
two, graduated from the
medical school of Norman
Bethune University of
Medical Sciences, in
Changchun, a city in
Northeastern China, in 1983.
She moved to the United
States 20 years ago, and
obtained a Ph.D. in
Pharmacology, Physiology and
Neurobiology from the
University of Chicago in
1995. She received her
residency physician training
in 1998 at the University of
California at San Diego, and
in 2003-2005, at Mount Sinai
Hospital in New York City.
She is Editor-in-Chief of
the biweekly magazine,
Medicine and Life, and has
been a reporter for The
Epoch Times (Chinese
edition) since 2000. Dr.
Wang is a spokesperson for
Chinese Overseas Physicians
for Human Rights and a
member of China Mental
Health Watch. She lives in
Queens, New York.
On April 20, 2006, at the
White House welcoming
ceremony for Chinese
Communist leader Hu Jintao,
Dr. Wang cried out from the
South Lawn media platform,
demanding that Hu Jintao
stop the persecution of
Falun Gong and end the
brutal crime of harvesting
organs from living Falun
Gong practitioners. She also
requested that US President
Bush ask Hu to stop the
killing. Dr. Wang's protest
drew worldwide attention to
China's egregious violations
of human rights and freedom
of belief, and particularly
to the persecution of Falun
Gong.
While Dr. Wang’s commitment
to China's human rights has
been long standing, she has,
since April 20, worked even
more tirelessly to raise the
world's awareness of China's
persecution of Falun Gong.
She has attended numerous
forums in more than 40
different cities worldwide,
and has been interviewed
about her White House
protest and the persecution
of Falun Gong by over 200
TV, newspapers and radio
stations, including most
major TV networks such as
CNN, BBC, and PBS, National
TV of Taiwan, and radio
stations such as ABC (the
John Batchelor show), BBC,
VOA, Clear Channel,
Newspapers including
Post-dispatch in St. Louis,
World Journal and South
China Morning Post (Hong
Kong), Taiwan News,. She
continues to ask the world
community to pay attention
to China's persecution of
Falun Gong and to work
diligently to stop the
brutal crime of live organ
harvesting. In a recent
statement, she said, "It
will be shameful if human
beings remain silent about
the torture and killing of
Falun Gong practitioners in
China . We all should act to
save innocent lives. Live
organ harvesting is a crime
that all of humankind should
join together to end. |
