Dr. Stefan Halper Served in
the White House under
Presidents Nixon and Ford
from 1971-1977 in the Office
of The Chief of Staff, The
Office of Communications and
The Office of Management and
Budget.
In 1980 he was appointed
Policy Director for George H
W Bush’s 1980 presidential
campaign. He was appointed
Director of Policy
Coordination for the 1980
Reagan-Bush ticket and
became Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State in the
Bureau of Political-Military
Affairs.
Upon leaving government in
1984, Halper wrote a
nationally syndicated column
focusing on
political-military and
diplomatic issues. He
covered events in Serbia,
Bosnia, Kosovo, Cuba, and
both North and South Korea,
Chile, Argentina, The Soviet
Union and the eastern
Mediterranean providing
analysis from each of these
locations.
Halper has lectured widely
in the U.S, Europe, the
USSR, China and Korea on
political-military issues
and questions of national
policy, legitimacy,
development and
low-intensity conflict..
He has appeared as a policy
expert on NBC, CBS, NBC,
CNN, America’s Voice, NPR,
the BBC, Sky Television, Fox
Television, the Voice of
America and various
international broadcasts.
Halper has published in a
range of scholarly journals
and popular magazines
including: The American
Spectator, The National
Review, The National
Interest, The Washington
Monthly, Saturday Review,
and Foreign Policy.
His articles have appeared
in numerous newspapers
including: the Washington
Times, The Wall Street
Journal, The Los Angeles
Times, The Orange County
Register, The Dallas Morning
News, The Providence
Journal, The San Diego Union
Leader and the Arizona
Republic.
